Family Celebration: Celebrating Life’s Milestones with Food: A 70th Birthday in the Lake District

Recently, we had the pleasure of catering for an intimate family gathering in the Lake District, where three generations came together to celebrate a 70th birthday. The celebration began with a selection of elegant canapés, designed to bring a touch of sophistication while still feeling warm and inviting. Guests could choose between a beautifully roasted Herdwick lamb – a local favourite known for its rich flavour and ties to Cumbria’s farming heritage – or a cauliflower steak rarebit, which brought a creative, vegetarian twist to the table. By offering both, we ensured that everyone, whether meat-lover or vegetarian, could savour a dish prepared with the same level of care and attention.

No celebration would be complete without something sweet, and dessert truly stole the show. Plates arrived with indulgent chocolate creations, silky lemon posset, and of course, a nod to the Lake District itself: the iconic Grasmere gingerbread. The combination of flavours, from rich and decadent to light and zesty, captured the spirit of the occasion – diverse, joyful, and unforgettable.
